Verifying a Parameterized Border Array in O(n1.5) Time

چکیده
The parameterized pattern matching problem is to check if there exists a renaming bijection on the alphabet with which a given pattern can be transformed into a substring of a given text. A parameterized border array (p-border array) is a parameterized version of a standard border array, and we can efficiently solve the parameterized pattern matching problem using p-border arrays. In this paper we present an O(n)-time O(n)-space algorithm to verify if a given integer array of length n is a valid p-border array for an unbounded alphabet. The best previously known solution takes time proportional to the n-th Bell number 1 e ∑∞ k=0 k k! , and hence our algorithm is quite efficient.

Counting Parameterized Border Arrays for a Binary Alphabet
The parameterized pattern matching problem is a kind of pattern matching problem, where a pattern is considered to occur in a text when there exists a renaming bijection on the alphabet with which the pattern can be transformed into a substring of the text. A parameterized border array (p-border array) is an analogue of a border array of a standard string, which is also known as the failure fun...
متن کاملVerifying a Border Array in Linear Time
A border of a string x is a proper (but possibly empty) prefix of x that is also a suffix of x. The border array β = β[1..n] of a string x = x[1..n] is an array of nonnegative integers in which each element β[i], 1 ≤ i ≤ n, is the length of the longest border of x[1..i]. In this paper we first present a simple linear-time algorithm to determine whether or not a given array y = y[1..n] of intege...
متن کاملEfficient validation and construction of border arrays
In this article we present an on-line linear time and space algorithm to check if an integer array f is the border array of at least one string w built on a bounded or unbounded size alphabet Σ. We first show some relations between the border array of some string w and the skeleton of the DFA recognizing Σ∗ ·w, independently of the explicit knowledge of w. This enables us to design algorithms f...
متن کاملImproved Algorithms for Decremental Single-Source Reachability on Directed Graphs
Recently we presented the first algorithm for maintaining the set of nodes reachable from a source node in a directed graph that is modified by edge deletions with o(mn) total update time, where m is the number of edges and n is the number of nodes in the graph [Henzinger et al. STOC 2014]. The algorithm is a combination of several different algorithms, each for a different m vs. n trade-off. F...
متن کاملConditionally Optimal Algorithms for Generalized Büchi Games
Games on graphs provide the appropriate framework to study several central problems in computer science, such as verification and synthesis of reactive systems. One of the most basic objectives for games on graphs is the liveness (or Büchi) objective that given a target set of vertices requires that some vertex in the target set is visited infinitely often. We study generalized Büchi objectives...
